The destination
Angola stretches from tropical rainforest in the north to desert dunes in the south, where the sand of the Namib touches the cold Atlantic. The Tundavala Gap, near the city of Lubango, drops over 1,000 metres in a single sheer escarpment, with views that stretch for miles on a clear day. Kissama National Park, a few hours from the capital, is slowly rebuilding its wildlife populations after decades of decline, now home to elephants, giraffes and antelope roaming again across open plains. Luanda’s nightlife has earned the city a reputation as one of the liveliest, if lesser-known, capitals on the continent.
