Greece has over 6,000 islands scattered across the Aegean and Ionian seas, though only around 227 of them are inhabited, leaving hundreds more to sail past without another soul in sight. Athens sits at the base of the Acropolis, where the Parthenon has stood for nearly 2,500 years despite wars, earthquakes and weathering. Santorini's cliffside villages, all whitewashed walls and blue domes, were built directly into the rim of a volcanic caldera. Crete, the largest island, holds the ruins of the Minoan civilization, one of Europe's oldest, predating even classical Greek mythology by centuries….
