Sweden holds more than 267,000 islands, most of them uninhabited, with the Stockholm archipelago alone containing around 30,000 of them. Midsummer is celebrated every June, with entire cities emptying out as people head to the countryside to dance around a flower-covered maypole. In the far north, Swedish Lapland offers some of the clearest Northern Lights viewing in Europe, and in summer, the same region flips into 24-hour daylight. Stockholm itself is built across 14 islands connected by more than 50 bridges, making it one of the more photogenic capitals….
