The flight into Paro is one of the most spectacular mountain approaches you will ever experience. From the left side of the aircraft, a series of the world's highest peaks unfolds; your pilot will announce their names if the weather is clear. As the plane descends into the high mountains, you won't find a sprawling city below but instead an alpine valley of forests, little monasteries, temples, and traditional farmhouses. Before the plane touches the runway, you'll catch a glimpse of the fertile Paro Valley, the imposing Paro Dzong, and the Paro Chu river winding through the valley floor. Your representative will be at the airport to assist you with a warm meet and greet before transferring you to Thimphu, approximately 55 kilometres and a one-hour drive away. Upon arrival in Thimphu, check into your hotel and take the rest of the day at leisure. Let the crisp mountain air and the quiet rhythm of the capital settle over you. Thimphu is unlike any capital you've visited; a place where civil servants, monks, and artisans share the same streets, and where tradition and modernity coexist with effortless grace. Rest well; tomorrow the city reveals its surprises.
